e event of a natural disaster or food safety issue that could adversely affect product integrity, create a loss of temperature, or interrupt the supply chain, City Produce has plans in place to address these issues. The General Manager of the facility will take actions to ensure all necessary parties are notified of any supply interruptions. The GM will also source emergency product supply from within the City Produce network and arrange alternate storage/shipment if there are food safety issues with any product we may possess.
In the event of a food safety issue City Produce has a recall program in place to ensure the timely and accurate collection of any product that has been shipped from our facility. This program is regularly tested thru mock recalls every six months to assure continuity of product trace-ability in the event of an actual product withdrawal from the market. The results from the mock recalls are evaluated in depth. The expectation is that identified lots of ingredients or food contact packaging can be traced to lots of finished product and can be located within our supply/ delivery chain. Involvement of entire team in mock recalls is expected with a management review after the exercise is completed. In addition to these food safety and HAACP procedures City Produce is annually inspected by the accredited 3rd party outside independent auditing company.
